Playset Renovation

From Drab to Fab!

Check out the before and after pics of our playset renovation:

playset renovation ~ original affordable playset / swingset from Costco  adorable playset renovation!

We saw this playset at Costco and it met our wish list criteria: we wanted a playhouse, a slide and some swings. The price was also right. At $999 (for Costco members), it was significantly cheaper than any other playset we saw at those big swingset stores! There were just two things I didn’t like: the tube slide, and the orange wood color. So, we decided not to install the tube slide (and just close off that opening so no one falls out) and that I’d paint the playset.

Biggest regret: not buying a paint gun! Painting took FOREVER! And as you can see, I even had some mini helpers.

I think it turned out pretty cute though… even with the imperfect paint job. We have since bought a paint gun for another project and I’m obsessed. I plan to go back and paint over the playset with it to fill in all the spots I missed with my roller and brush. I’m considering painting the door hardware and the bell. Maybe I’ll add a window flower box as well. We’ll see.

Initially, we had the wave slide installed next to the door, where it is meant to go. We didn’t love it there. So, we moved it to the spot where the tube slide is supposed to go, and closed off the opening where the wave slide is meant to be.

My husband and I agree that this was the very best money we have ever spent. We can now sit outside on the patio, enjoy a drink and an adult conversation, while the kids have a blast playing!
